Cinq lieux incontournables à Accra

La capitale du Ghana, Accra est une ancienne colonie britannique qui regorge de plusieurs lieux de culture. Parmi ces lieux figure le musée national du Ghana (National Museum of Ghana) qui est dédié aux objets rares et ethnographiques et l’édifice du Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, monument érigé à la gloire du premier président (voir photo ci-dessous).

Le visiteur de ce pays pourra bénéficier du dynamisme de la ville aussi bien le jour avec le marché Makola Market, marché traditionnel où poteries, perles multicolores et divers objets aux couleurs du pays sont des achats inéluctables, que la nuit ou le quartier d'Osu s'anime autour de ses discothèques, bars et restaurants.

Le château d’Osu datant du XVII ème siècle est la résidence officielle du chef de l’Etat.

Accra peut aussi être fière du Aburi Botanic Garden : jardin botanique qui est un véritable havre de paix. Il abrite en effet des espèces rares, plusieurs types de papillons et d’oiseaux, ainsi que de magnifiques arbres exotiques aux vertus médicinales.

Par ailleurs, la tribu des Ashantis, domine encore la région par ses légendes et coutumes. Le Musée d’Ashanti, permet aux visiteurs de contempler le tabouret en Or et l’Epée Anokie, des symboles sacrés, et leurs légendes.

D’autres lieux viennent compléter ce musée, on y trouve en effet un centre d’Artisanat, et une bibliothèque. Pour mieux s'imprégner de l'atmosphère de la ville, allez au marché de Kumasi, l'un des plus importants d'Afrique. Les gourmands pourront y trouver leur bonheur!

Au nord-ouest de Kumasi, les amateurs d'histoire pourront renouer avec l'apogée de la culture Ashanti au XVIIIe siècle. Des maisons en bois, en chaume ou en terre témoignent du passé de cette civilisation. Le pays compte par ailleurs d'autres sites magnifiques tels que le Fort Elmina, le Parc national de la Mole ou le lac Volta.

Five unmissable places in Accra

The capital, Accra is a former European colony closing several cultural venues. In the Ashanti Region, at the north east of Accra, Kumasi was the capital of the kingdom of the same name. Ashanti tribe still dominates the area with its legends, customs and traditions. Ashanti’s museum, allows visitors to enjoy the stool in Gold and Sword Anokie, sacred symbols, and legends.

Other places complement the museum, there is indeed a center of crafts, and a library. To best capture the atmosphere of the city, appointments at the Kumasi’s market, one of the largest in Africa. Gourmands will be guided by their senses in this place particularly lively.

At the Northwest of Kumasi, history lovers can reconnect with the height of the Ashanti culture in the eighteenth century. Classified as World Heritage by UNESCO wooden houses, thatched or clay reflect the history of this civilization. The country has other wonderful sites including Fort Elima, the Mole National Park or Lake Volta.
